Remembering the Heroes: Willet, Humphry & Minelli

Obituaries

The year 2025 was one of great loss for the right to die movement with the deaths of Florian Willet in Germany, Derek Humphry in the US and Ludwig Minelli.

Each of these men, in their own way, is a hero to the cause.

Each believed passionately in a person’s right to self-determination at the end of life.

While Derek and Humphry both died in their 90s, the death of Florian Willet was altogether too premature.

Florian was only 47 years old when he received an assisted suicide in Germany.

Suffering from acute psychosis which stemmed from his wrongful pre-trial detention following the use of the Sarco in Switzerland, Florian lost faith in humanity (and in the Swiss ‘justice’ system).

His death is especially tragic.
