Old Age falls outside the tight medical requirements of all of most of the world’s VAD laws.
As such, there is no way to get help to die if you suffer from all those little things that come with old age. Polypathologies are a long way from being accepted as legitimate grounds to die in many countries.
Even if the UK ever legislates, it is highly unlikely that the law will help the elderly (unless terminally ill). And it would certainly not help couples (such as the former Dutch PM and his wife who died together in early February)
Exit workshops will focus on the creation of an end of life plan that can be put in place: as an insurance policy for the future. Having something in the cupboard, in case it is ever needed.
Need to Know
Attendance at Exit Workshops is reserved for Exit Members > 50 years or who are seriously ill, or by special arrangement. ID may be required.
