Code of Conduct
This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour asked of all Exit International members.
Exit members will always:
- Treat one another with dignity, respect and empathy.
- Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Never encourage, promote, or participate in unlawful acts.
- Respect the privacy of Exit members and the confidentiality of any group or Exit discussions.
- Never disclose people’s personal or medical information without their consent.
- Accept responsibility for personal actions and decisions.
- Engage with people of differing views in a respectful and constructive manner.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for members.
- Acknowledge the emotional impact of discussions on death and dying and prioritise well-being.
- Use Exit’s resources responsibly and declare any conflicts of interest.
Commitment
By becoming an Exit member, you agree to uphold this Code of Conduct and promote dignity, compassion, and respect in all matters relating to voluntary assisted dying.
Enforcement
Breaches of this Code will be taken seriously. Depending on the circumstances, Exit may take steps including mediation, warnings, suspension, or termination of membership.
Exit Member Pledge
All Exit members are asked to abide by this Code of Conduct.
