An Extraordinary Encounter – A Life of 106 Years

Yesterday (16 June 2026), we had the profound privilege of accompanying a truly extraordinary person who had reached the remarkable age of 106.

This individual was not a celebrity, a politician, an artist, or someone known around the world. Yet, to us, they were a true VIP.

Why?

Because a life lived over more than a century carries something far more valuable than fame: wisdom, resilience, humanity, experience, and an extraordinary story.

Born in the early 1920s, this person witnessed more than one hundred years of history unfold.

They lived through times of war and peace, economic change, technological revolutions, social transformation, and countless events that shaped generations.

What impressed us most, however, was not their age.

It was their humanity, humility, kindness, warmth, dignity, and deep love for their family.

As an organization, we have the privilege of meeting people from all walks of life. Every individual brings a unique story, personal experiences, and a lifetime of memories.

Occasionally, we encounter someone whose journey reminds us in a profound way of the value and richness of human life.

Yesterday was one of those moments.

Behind every application and every conversation stands a human being with hopes, dreams, achievements, challenges, relationships, and a unique life story.

Meeting someone who lived for more than a century reminded us that every life matters and every person deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the family for the trust they placed in our organization.

Thank you for allowing us to accompany your loved one during such an important and deeply personal chapter of life.

Although this remarkable person is no longer physically among us, the legacy of a life lived over 106 years remains.

A century of memories, lessons, relationships, wisdom, and love continues through family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched along the way.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do and strengthen our commitment to ensuring that dignity, respect, compassion, and humanity remain at the heart of everything we do.

To the family, we extend our deepest condolences, our sincere gratitude, and our profound respect.

Note – In May 2018 Exit took 104-year old Professor David Goodall to Lifecircle to die. His death made global headlines thanks to advanced old age and his fierce sense of independence.

‘I have lived long enough’ he said ‘and now is the time to die’. ‘There is nothing particularly sad about this but it is my right and no one else should get in the way’.
