Sweet Death @ Barcelona Human Rights Film Festival
Exit is excited to announce that Analeine Cal y Mayor’s documentary ‘Sweet Death’ will screen at the closing night awards of the 2025 Barcelona Human Rights Film Festival.
Everyone is invited. The Festival operates a reverse ticketing system where tickets are available at the door. Patrons are requested to pay what they can afford/ deem worthy.
The Sweet Death screening with be followed by a Q&A with Dr Philip Nitschke who is a guest of the Festival.
The venue is the historic Cinema Malda. Screening time/ date is 18.00 Wednesday 10 December 2025.
Already this year, the film has won the Ierepetra International Documentary Festival and the Montreal Women’s Film Festival.
In 2026, the film is also in competition at the Berlin Indy Film Festival.

Sweet Death follows Dr Philip Nitschke, the leading advocate of euthanasia, who loses his medical licence and decides to try his luck at stand-up comedy.
Meanwhile, Kathy, after attending one of Dr Nitschke’s workshops, travels to Tijuana to buy the means to die peacefully if she inherits her mother’s dementia.
