Amazon Bot Goes Overboard?
In recent weeks, a stack of authors have found their books about end of life issues removed from Amazon’s global platform.
|
The ‘Vanilla’ edition of the Peaceful Pill Handbook is one of these books!
|
The crazy thing is that many of these books (the Amazon edition of the Peaceful Pill Handbook included) present political/ philosophical discussion of issues related to the end of life rights debate.
|
Since 2021, Exit has published a ‘general audience’ edition of the book, especially for Amazon.
|
This edition has contained no ‘how-to’ information, no explicit instructions, no named drugs sources or substances; indeed, nothing that could be considered practically useful in terms of a self-determined DIY death.
|
And this is how it should be. The Peaceful Pill eHandbook (as sold by Exit) has always been subject to age restrictions; this is not a book for depressed teens, indeed the opposite.
|
Exit has always published information that enables rational, older people to have self-determination over their end of life choices, regardless of their state of health.
|
That is our mission, and this will not change.
|
Why has Amazon taken the Censorship Route?
|
By way of background, Amazon (a Washington state registered company) is currently embroiled in multiple court cases where the parents of deceased teenagers are alleging that Amazon is responsible for their childrens' deaths, following purchase of 98%+ pure sodium nitrite from the Amazon website.
|
Indeed, in their zeal to up- and cross-sell, the 'Amazon bot’ is accused not only of bundling sodium nitrite with anti-emetic pills, but of selling measuring scales and recommending the Peaceful Pill Handbook.
|
Amazon is currently trying to have the matter dismissed in the Washington State Supreme Court.
|
This may explain Amazon’s sudden enthusiasm for censorship?
|
Interestingly, the Peaceful Pill eHandbook has been for sale on Amazon since its initial publication in late 2006, almost 20 years ago.

Just Saying ...
Should the new Trump tariffs on goods go ahead (as widely reported in this weekend’s news), these extra costs will be passed on to purchasers who are Stateside.

We are sorry but Exit does not have the capacity to absorb 10% let alone the reported 25%.

So let’s hope common sense prevails, along with international free trade.
