Northern Territory of Australia
to Introduce New Law
After 30 years, the Northern Territory - the place where legalised voluntary euthanasia all began - has announced it will pass a new Rights of the Terminally Ill Act in the coming weeks.
Just in time for Exit’s 30th Anniversary of the original Rights of the Terminally Ill Act Conference.
As Philip Nitschke says, the Northern Territory is not a place known for leading the world in many areas of society and culture, but on this one occasion they did just that.
Under the original Rights of Terminally Ill Act, Philip helped four of his terminally ill patients to die using the Deliverance Machine.
It is from this time that Exit International emerged to become the powerhouse that it is today.

Vale
Exit was saddened to hear of the sudden death on Mt Fuji this week of the Chief Executive of Exit Switzerland (Schweiz), Bernhard Sutter.
Bernhard had been a long time friend of Exit International and was instrumental in bringing about the first German language translation of the Peaceful Pill Handbook.
Exit sends our sincere thoughts and sympathies to Bernhard’s wife and his young family.
