Philip Nitschke Returns to Switzerland
This week in Winterthur (outside of Zurich) in Switzerland, the Swiss Free Thinkers hosted a full-house evening of passionate debate about the best way forward for assisted suicide in Switzerland in a 'post-Sarco' world.
Dr Marion Schafroth - President, Exit Schweiz
Ingrid Hieronymi - The Last Resort
Dr Philip Nitschke - EXIT International
Dr Freddy Jaros - President, Free Thinkers Winterthur
For Philip, this was his first return to the country since last September when the Sarco was used at a friend’s forest retreat in the remote Swiss canton of Schaffhausen.
However, the star of the evening was Ingrid Hieronymi. Ingrid has been with The Last Resort almost since its inception.
Ingrid is an experienced political lobbyist, journalist and advocate of non-medical dying. Her presentation was passionate, forensically-argued and just what is needed given the current medical model climate of the existing Swiss assisted suicide groups.
Photos from the evening can be seen on Ingrid’s Linked In pages.
Philip thanks the Free Thinkers for their kind invitation and promises to improve his German :-)

Registrations Open
In June, EXIT will hold its next online short-form Workshop, known as a Snippet.
The June Topic is ‘Does Nitrogen Hypoxia cause Convulsions’?
This topic is especially relevant given the horror stories which have emerged when nitrogen hypoxia has been used to execute death row prisoners.
It is also pertinent given the first use of Sarco in Switzerland in September 2024.
Does Nitrogen Hypoxia provide a peaceful death or not?
And does it matter if the means of administration is via a bag, mask or the Sarco?
The last Snippet was held in March 2025.
The March Topic was ‘Does Nembutal cause Drowning’? A recording of this Snippet is now available in the Peaceful Pill eHandbook.
Snippets are exclusive for Exit Members & Subscribers to the Peaceful Pill eHandbook.
Photo ID may be required.
