New, Updated Online Edition
In the coming weeks, Exit will publish a new, updated online edition of Going to Switzerland: how to plan your final exit
The update provides a fresh analysis of why some Swiss clinics are recommended over others, and addresses the rumours which abound over the ethics of paying to die in Switzerland.
With the Sarco capsule still in the possession of the Schaffhausen prosecutor and action dragging on in the Swiss Federal Court, the only offered means of assisted suicide in Switzerland is with the use of the drug pentobarbital.
Given Switzerland is home to Big Pharma, this is perhaps not surprising.
However, the use of drugs also keeps the medical profession centre stage.
It remains an irony that Switzerland is the only country that does not have a medicalised assisted dying/ suicide law.
You do not need to be terminally ill to get help to die in Switzerland and you do not need to be a medical professional to help someone die.
Updates apply only to online book editions

Dutch Euthanasia Debate Erupts Again
New Documentary - 17 Year old Milou
Last week in the Netherlands a new documentary screened about the euthanasia death of 17-year old Milou in 2023.
Milou died two years ago. Her reason for wanting help to die? Psychological suffering.
In the Netherlands, euthanasia for young people is possible under strict conditions from the age of 12 years.
The psychiatric profession remains sharply divided on the issue. Milou’s parents had few qualms as painful as they knew it would be to lose a child.
Read more about the documentary and the circumstances of Milou’s right to die on the Exit Website
Interestingly, AI has been used in the film to mimic Milou’s voice to give her ‘a voice’.
