New Exit Video-Podcast

This week, Exit Director Dr Philip Nitschke has broken his silence about the true story of what happened with the Sarco on that fateful day in September, and of the bravery and compassion of Dr Florian Willet.

Firstly, Philip has recorded a new Video/Podcast, the first since August 2020 that discusses the Sarco project.

The new Podcast is available in 2 formats: podcast and videocast

Secondly, Philip granted an exclusive interview to Swiss newspaper NZZ (see below).

Philip says that to not accept the fact that the Sarco worked as planned, and argue instead that something untoward took place on 23 September, is to reject the science.

The ‘anti-science’ ethos, he says, has no place in the right to die debate.

Today’s Times Radio Interview

+ BBC Hardtalk - 9 Years On

The UK’s forthcoming assisted dying debate in parliament has seen Philip Nitschke speak out and look back to see how little debate has progressed in that country.

Today (24 November) Philip spoke out on Times Radio

Almost a decade ago he was making a similar point on BBC Hardtalk that a good death was a fundamental human right, rather than a privilege for the terminally ill.

With the UK Parliament set to debate the issue of assisted dying in the coming week, the public conversation about who gets to ask for help to die seems to have regressed rather than progressed.

The sponsor of the ‘Terminally Ill Adults (end of life) Bill', Kim Leadbeater, has stated that her bill will be strictest in the world.

By strictest, what is actually meant is that the safeguards will be so stringent that relatively few people will ever be able to qualify to ask for help.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Let Florian Know You Care

Dr Florian Willet remains in pre-trial detention in a Swiss prison.

His crime? To be present when the Sarco was used by a very sick American woman in the forest of Schaffhausen in Switzerland on 23 September 2024.

The way Florian is being treated is nothing short of scandalous in a country like Switzerland.

Everyone in the Exit community is encouraged to write to Florian to tell him how much we admire him: his bravery and his commitment to a good death as a fundamental human right. Let there be no doubt, history will treat this man well.

A Word of Warning

All correspondence will be read by the Swiss prosecutor who will then decide which letters are allowed and which are not! Give it a go all the same?
