Exit International
established the Nancy's Friends Network in memory of Nancy Crick.
Nancy's Friends provides home counselling and advice
to people (who are elderly or ill and) who are considering end-of-life decisions.
Nancy's
Friends is run by dedicated volunteers. The Network seeks to ensure that people are well informed about their end-of-life
options and that no one dies alone.
First and foremost, the Nancy's Friends Network respects people's
desires. Discussion of end-of-life choices takes place in this context. Because Nancy's
Friends abides by the law, assistance with suicide is not provided.
The first NF Training workshop took place in November 2005 in Brisbane (see photo at right).
Nancy's
Friends now operates in all States and Territories
of Australia. Demand has led to a second training workshop being planned for Melbourne for June 2006.
