Exit supporters Succeed in Making the Peaceful Pill

In a world first, 20 Exit supporters have gathered on a property in rural NSW to make their own Peaceful Pill.

Aged from 55 to 94 years of age, some of these people are seriously ill, but most are well.  All were concerned to ensure that they would have access to their own end of life choices, should the need ever arise.

More than 12 months in the planning, the Peanut Project represents the first attempt by a group of elderly and sick people to make a barbiturate-like substance; a substance that they can take home and store in a safe place.

In Exit's polling, members consistently say that they would get great comfort in knowing they have something that they could take one day if things should take a turn for the worse.

While the Peanut Project was attended and organised by members of Exit International, Dr Philip Nitschke had no association with, and did not attend the weekend away. The full story can be read in an article in this week's Bulletin Magazine by clicking HERE.
